BRUSSELS THROUGH FRESH EYES

‘Where Business meets Art’
Hotel Bloom! - MPI Award winner “Best Venue 2008”
(Belgium Chapter) - has just celebrated the completion of a total transformation and a unique European project which has lasted almost 2 years. Under the artistic responsibility of ELIA (European League of Institutes of Art), 288 young artists from 22 European countries have each decorated a Bloom! bedroom with frescoes.

Bloom hotel

Alain Ayers from Camberwell College of Arts in London was on the Committee which selected the students and he became a frequent visitor to Brussels to supervise the project. Rendez-Vous-in-Brussels asked Alain what he thought of the city:

“I got to like Brussels the more I came here, and the more I got off the beaten track. Yes, the big collections are fantastic, but there’s also a great contemporary arts scene, avant-garde music, some great fashion and lively creative stuff going on…

What Brussels needs to do is take its visitors off the beaten track. There’s so much more than the Grand’Place. Another whole level of culture to explore…. It’s also an easy city to get to and, once you’re here, you can walk almost everywhere.”
