TESTIMONIAL

Mrs Sabine Henry, co-President of the Alzheimer 2009 Convention and President of Linal (Belgian Association Member of Alzheimer Europe)

The 19th European Alzheimer Conference with approximatively 350 participants took place in Brussels 28-30 May 2009, the chosen venue was Management Centre Europe, the PCO was Destrée Organisation.

When interrogated about the reason for choosing Brussels, Mrs Henry’s response was clear: “Brussels is the heart of Europe and as the European Parliament and the European Commission organize meetings on Alzheimer in Brussels at least twice a year , it was a natural choice for the organizing committee to pick Brussels as the destination for our Conference.”

What are the principal strong points of Brussels?

“Brussels is a multicultural, multilingual, multipolitical and multifaceted capital. It is a city that invites people to be welcoming and relaxed, to explore its different areas, its large green spaces…Brussels is a business city but with a hospitable heart. Brussels illustrates perfectly the Alzheimer Europe slogan “Living Together”, it’s a city that wants to be discovered by both business and leisure travelers!
Also, its central location and the frequency of the available airlines which permitted 32 associations from 27 different European countries to travel easily to Brussels linked to the very reasonable hotel prices made us appreciate our choice even more.”

Where there any points you particularly appreciated about Brussels?
“We were very much taken by the venue and the whole area surrounding it, Le Châtelain with its hotels, nearby shops and public transport. The gala ball at the Conrad Hotel was a great hit as well as the welcome reception at the Town Hall by the Mayor of Brussels. Ours was prestigious event which was still very much accessible from both a financial and a physical (transport) point of view. The presence of HRH Princess Mathilde at a working session with patients was very much appreciated and I would also like to state that we could not have achieved the level of organization without the able help of our PCO Destrée Organisation who helped us to make it a quality event on a human scale and without excessive cost.”

“All in all, we were delighted by our choice of destination.”
