BRAVO!
We celebrate Brussels’ newest meeting venue, SQUARE recently opened by Prince Philippe & Princess Mathilde on 17 September.
Congratulations go to the development team that managed to open on time and on budget. In an unusually joined-up promotional announcement campaign, including cubic-shaped adverts across the city, the opening event culminated in a celebratory fireworks display crowning an evening of entertainment for the citizens of Brussels. As part of the development the Congress Place on Mont des Arts - the museums quarter of Brussels - where SQUARE is located, the formal gardens of René Pechere and the Albertina Park have been restored to their former beauty and are now lit by an integrated lighting plan. This includes the glass cube of the entrance portal of SQUARE that will also be used as an outdoor auditorium and video display space. Another gift to the city is the restoration of access to murals by Paul Delvaux, René Magritte and Louis van Lint that have been hidden for years.
Conveniently located neat to the Central Station SQUARE offers a main hall with a 4,000m² exhibition space, twenty meeting rooms of different sizes and four auditoria for between 150 and 1,200 people that are equipped for simultaneous translations and voting. Kwint, a new restaurant overlooks Congress Place, whilst the Panoramic Hall above offers 360° views over the city. Arne Quinze the maverick Belgian designer is responsible for the stunning interiors of both.
The heart of the city at the heart of Europe now beats more proudly with SQUARE at its centre.
