“For passionate readers, there is a great place in Brussels called Cook & Book in the Wolubilis complex, next to the Woluwe Shopping Centre. Cook & Book is a revolutionary concept combining bookshop and restaurant that has achieved great success since it opened in March 2006. It was even better than I imagined! Cook & Book is not just a restaurant and bookshop but nine bookshops and restaurants under two roofs. The principle is very simple. You can review books (and buy them of course) at your dining table; there are plenty of books within easy reach. Each bookshop has a theme: travel, comic strips, lifestyle, fine arts, music, kids corner, literature (fiction), cookery and even an English bookshop. Between each of the shops are the restaurants serving a wide range of food including sandwiches and salads, pasta and pizza from a wood-fired oven. The décor and attention to detail is unusual and inspired, from the paperbacks hanging from the ceiling in the literature shop, to the chic cocktail bar in the music shop. There is a terrace for summer days. The setting of Cook & Book is suitable for exhibitions, authors meetings, parties of all kind, press conferences and concerts. Combined with Wolubilis Cultural Centre, Cook & Book is well worth a visit.”
