To position and describe Slovenia one could say it lies midway between Venice and Vienna: the colourful Mediterranean world blends with the majestic quiet of the Alps.
This also corresponds with the character of its people: they are very proud of their boutique country, which can be depicted as a chocolate box with a big assortment of delights placed inside. |
| Five things by which one remembers Slovenia |
1. Slovenia is the only country in the world that bears the word LOVE in its name.
2. The genuine hospitality, which is a part of our tradition and Slavic heritage.
3. The green colour: 56 % of Slovenia is covered by forests.
4. One can climb or even ski in the Alps and take a swim in the Adriatic Sea within the same day.
5. The numberless underground caves – more than 9,000 have been registered so far, with new ones still being discovered.
Half joking, we could say that taking a stroll along the western rim of Slovenia, in the Karst region, where caves abound, is nearly like walking on Emmenthal cheese... |
| And the advantages of Slovenia as a meetings & incentive travel destination are? |
Many destinations (so do we) can boast an excellent, easy to reach location, state-of-the-art infrastructure, professional services, etc.
We believe our advantage is the people working in our industry and wider, the often neglected but very important human factor.
Our new advertisement summarises the main elements:
1. Slovenian energy,
2. team flexibility,
3. 24h smile,
4. personal touch and
5. natural charm. |
| How do they see us? |
Sylvie Marques, regional Vice President Southern Europe HelmsBriscoe
“Slovenia is a beautiful destination, the country is very diverse, and the infrastructure to accommodate the MICE clientele (hotels, restaurants, venues, public spaces . . .) is up to date.
My experience in Slovenia is that the people in the hospitality business are very professional: they listen to you and are very keen to answer your needs and meet your requirements. They are also very friendly. To me it’s a nice mix between Swiss and Italian people in terms of professionalism and warmth.” |
Oskar Vahervuori, Finnish incentives consultant and tour leader
”For Finnish incentive/MICE operators such as my main employer Fincentive House, Slovenia is above all four things:
fresh (clean environment and also for most people a new alternative), compact (you can really get a picture of the whole country and experience its highlights during a long weekend), and easy-to-reach (good flight and other connections).
For corporate clients, we especially appreciate the personal safety.” |
| Conventa |
Slovenia is hosting the next edition of Conventa, the meetings and incentive trade show for the region of South-East Europe, on 21 and 22 January 2010 in Ljubljana.
Conventa presents more than 80 most prominent meetings and incentive providers in the region; it demonstrates the region’s professionalism and aims to prove that it is an excellent value for money.
Conventa features over 3.000 one-to-one meetings between exhibitors and qualified hosted buyers. 150 mainly European meeting planners are to be selected to attend the show, adding on top the chance to experience the richness and diversity of this undiscovered part of Europe. |
At the previous trade show Paul Kennedy, Former Group Exhibition Director Meetings & Incentive Events Reed Travel Exhibitions, said: ”My own judgement of Conventa is very similar to that of the hosted buyers: Excellent organisation, sensational catering during the show and highly enjoyable and effective networking events. International guests were greeted with style and the standard of hospitality was simply outstanding.”
