Watch out, here comes the Facebook generation

facebookTwo of the most popular sessions at EMIF 2011 were about social media. It is unusual to find Elling Hamso (Event ROI Institute) speaking with so much Norwegian passion. He’s usually more serious & academic on his favourite subject, ROI. But this was different; a presentation with ‘wow’ factor.

The advent of broadband in the late 1990s heralded the arrival of the Facebook Generation, the self-confident generation, the first generation where children started teaching parents. They were born with two thumbs and the human race must be already mutating.

They are changing everything; the way we learn, the way we communicate & network and even the language we use. Future CEO’s will be ‘high gamers’, those who have grown up with computer games fighting to get to the next level.
They have learnt to fail; to take calculated risks; not to give up and to think out of the box…and they have also learnt to be good team players. Click here to read more.
Why SITE matters … by Bruce Taylor

SiteBBT Online met SITE Belgium’s articulate and debonair President,
Dries Jacobus
at EMIF, where he was busy recruiting new members on the Associations stand.

Dries Jacobus
SITE President Belgium
The first thing that caught our eye was a simple A4 page of bullet points entitled, ‘Why SITE matters…’ It listed the benefits of ‘belonging to the only global network of travel & event professionals committed to motivational experiences that deliver business results.’ These benefits are summarised under four clear headings…
  • Professional Affiliation
  • Global Networking & Connecting
  • Professional Growth & Learning

Happy Birthday, Midi Station!

AgendaOn Thursday, March 31st, Midi Station celebrated its 2nd anniversary… in style! (350 champagne bottles, which means, +/- 2,100 glasses have been served!!. “En amour, on ne compte pas”). One of the partners of the evening was BBT Online.
For those who have been hitchhiking the Galaxy over the last few years: Midi Station is the prestigious brasserie, located next to the Brussels South train station, that saw the light of day in the spring of 2009. Its inspirer, is the famous interior designer Antoine Pinto.

The party - by invitation only - was a parade of beautiful people, culinary delights and Cuban jazz, set in the breathtaking interior of the brasserie itself: a wide open space of a huge atrium, flanked by an impressive open kitchen with an oyster bar on one side and a 20m long bar on the other.

Since a couple of weeks from 7 pm there’s a free parking available just 20m away from the restaurant. Rue de L’instruction 159 Onderwijsstraat, which is a different parking then the Q-park.
