Since June 20th 2009 a major new European cultural destination, the greatly expanded Hermitage Amsterdam welcomes visitors to its restored 17th-century building in the heart of Amsterdam with the exhibition “At the Russian Court”, a display of more than 1,800 treasures from the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg.

More than an exhibition space, the 9,925 square metre building will be alive throughout the day and night with dining in the café restaurant Neva and on the outdoor terrace in summer; concerts and lectures in the restored Church hall; events in the 400-seat auditorium; shopping in a pair of retail stores; meetings in gracious conference rooms; and relaxation in the courtyard garden.

Fam Trips: educational…or a waste of time & money?

In these times of tight budgets and difficult cash flow situations education of the client is, if at all possible, even more important and therefore investing in good educationals seems to be the right solution. However all is not always well in the land of Fam trips.

Let’s take a closer look. A contribution of Viviane Vogels. A must read for the organiser as well as the participant. Click here…

NEW!!! BBT Online readers favorite restaurants

New!!! In each edition of Take 5, BBT online asks one of its readers to share his favorite restaurants and other favorites. We start our mini-serie with Christophe Verstraete. Christophe is the Executive Director of Euromic since 2002– The Destination Management Partnership in Europe and the Mediterranean Basin.

He started his career in the industry, first in hotel sales (Sheraton Brussels & Sheraton Casablanca), and then in the organisation of public events (Brussels Jazz Marathon) & corporate events for Variety. He is the proud husband of Agnès and father of Alexandre (9 years old). Food is one of his passions as he does all the cooking at home, and also as he finds it’s the best way to meet at length - or for a quick bite - with friends, clients or colleagues.

3 Original Hotels to discover!
on the rocks
Aire de Barnedas...
on the moon
on the lake

At first glance it seems like Hotel Juvet has been attached to the rocks. You will find Hotel Juvet in the middle of nowhere in the Norwegian rugged nature but with a modern architecture that totally blends into the landscape.

Guests of this exceptional hotel become literally one with the breathtakingly beautiful natural decor. All rooms are cubes of glass and wood, the interior is sober and dark with a Spartan touch. It goes without saying that this hotel is the perfect place for outdoor types with a wide selection of outdoors activities. Rates start at 400 eur per day per person, all included (full pension and activities)

Hotel Aire de Barnedas can be found north of the Spanish city of Zaragoza, in the vicinity of the Bardenas Royales de Navarre nature park. The hotel lies well hidden in a barren region with a desert feel to it and that looks somewhere between a moonscape and the set for an old western movie.

The hotel itself is a collection of steel prefab buildings that look as if they have just been deposited on the rocks. All 22 rooms have a minimalistic décor but especially the rooms with private patio with external bathtub can easily charm any visitor. All rooms also offer endless views of the surrounding countryside... Rates start at 150 euro per night.

Imagine the Lake of Neuchâtel in the Three Lakes Region, in Monruz, Switzerland and perched on the very edge is the 5-star hotel Palafitte providing breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding Alps.

Now imagine 40 small pavilions literally build on and in the lake each with a deck overlooking the water, imagine the quiet of your own private piece of lake and you are ready to discover the very comfortable hotel Palafitte. Rates vary from 257 to 495 euro per night.
