Beach Life = Good Life
St(r)andplaats Nederzandt
Good Life

Goodlife Beach, a man-made city beach in Domein De Wal in Stekene (near Sint-Niklaas) opened on 20 May this year. This beach/lounge club offers the perfect blend of summer vibes, exquisite food and chilled drinks. Are you in for some tapas, a salad or a fresh oven-baked pizza? Here’s where you need to be.

Party vibes are provided by a different DJ every day. Goodlife Beach will be home to a whole series of events throughout summer.

St(r)andplaats Nederzandt can be found between Noordwijk & Zandvoort close to Amsterdam and the tulip fields. The place is ideal for a dinner or an event in between some sandy dunes.

The restaurant is open all year round, and BBQs can be organised both inside and outside. The venue has plenty of room for events and meetings, and offers a wide catalogue of sports or team-building activities: surfing, rafting, archery, horse riding, wine tasting, painting classes or even a DJ workshop.
Hop on the Brussels beer bus
Scary cocktails in Brussels
Brussels Beer Bus

Want to drink and drive through Brussels without getting a ticket? It’s possible – but you’ll still have to buy one to hop onto the Brussels Beer Bus!

This amazing vintage bus was in service in the 60s and has now found a second life guiding beer lovers through the capital. A local guide will join you to allow you to discover the history of beer as well as Brussels’ best kept secrets.

There will be sampling as well – obviously.

Located in an authentic 19th century neo-gothic pharmacy, La Pharmacie Anglaise is probably the craziest location in Brussels to have a drink.

It has two world class cocktail makers. ‘Cocktails and Curiosity’ is what they advertise, and they don’t disappoint. Recently, the venue was home to ‘Hendrick’s Chambers of the Curious’. Every room was temporarily filled with objects seemingly straight from a Frankenstein or Dracula movie. The project is finished now, but even without the horror theme, it’s still a completely unique place.
It’s better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation!
Cooking classes in a castle
More broken promises

The Laneffe Fortified Farm is a lovely venue, found in a peaceful setting close to Charleroi and Namur. It’s still a working farm, but most of the buildings were converted into gîtes and guest rooms.

It comes with three banquet and event rooms and a wide variety of team-building activities for companies and groups. Especially interesting are their cooking classes with ingredients made on their farm and their chocolate workshops.
The new Horeca Plan, meant to prevent restaurants from going bankrupt after the introduction of the Black Box – included three essential measures promised by the government: 360 extra net hours annually per employee, flexi-BRAjobs and turning the 50 days students are allowed to work into a more flexible 400 hours.

The Belgian Restaurants Association recently discovered restaurant owners were simply fooled again, since none of these measures were actually implemented. Some of them were actually abolished again only a month after deciding on the plan.

Politicians once again completely dropped the ball. Nice going guys.

Newest trends in business travel
Hot trends on trade shows

Advito just published its quarterly Industry Forecast. Compared to the last updates, rates for plane tickets and hotels remain unchanged or will even go down slightly in the months to come.

It’s not yet clear whether the Brussels attacks will have an impact on the local rates in Belgium. Advito also highlights some upcoming trends, like growing interest in virtual cooperation, alternative means of payment and on-demand services.

The way people visit or experience trade shows is something that is always changing. A while ago it was all about networking, giveaways, finding out who was speaking and looking up the best parties to attend.

Now event managers are tweaking their shows in ways that force attendees to pay attention, gain knowledge and participate. What are these latest trends? Click here to find out.
