Martin's Red

Martin's Red – the latest project of the Martin's Hotels group – just opened and is to become official hotel of the Belgian Red Devils.

The venue is obviously well-equipped to accommodate high-level athletes, but not only them. It offers 79 modern guest rooms, a conference centre with a 160 seat auditorium, 3 translation booths, 6 meeting rooms and a banquet hall for 150 people.

It also comes with a fitness centre, a mini-spa and a sports bar & grill.

Print your own food

Food Ink. in London claims to be the world's first 3D printing restaurant. It works with food syringes (like printer cartridges) in various flavours, and people can press a button to actually print their own food.

Even the chairs and the cutlery were 3D-printed on the spot.

We have no idea on whether it actually tastes good. Their 9 course dinners are £ 250 each, so cross your fingers.

Floating hotel in Paris

The OFF Hotel Paris Seine allows you to book a floating hotel room on the Seine River in the heart of Paris. Does it get any better than this? You can even enjoy the outside pool after breakfast, all on the river itself.

Its 58 rooms are nice and spacious too, far from what you expect the cabin of a ship to be. The hotel is anchored at Port d'Austerliz in the 13th Arrondissement, offering unique views of both banks.

Wine meets art

The new Quetzal Art Centre on the Quinta do Quetzal winery in the Portuguese Alentejo was just opened this September. Quetzal combines a winery with a contemporary art centre – the first of its kind in the region.

Dutch owners Cees & Inge de Bruin are art collectors and want to promote local as well as international names in their exposition space.

Dining in a Milanese sawmill

Carlo e Camilla in Segheria is a fantastic looking Italian restaurant in Milan, housed beneath the high ceilings of a 1930s sawmill.

The kitchen is led by famous chef Carlo Cracco and the menu is based on seasonal and regional ingredients. They offer contemporary twists on simple Italian classics, but the biggest draw might be the venue itself: awe-inspiring.

Brussels tourism crisis
Terrorism and events: what event planners need to know

Tourist attractions and museums in Brussels are still experiencing difficulties after the March 22nd terrorist attacks. Compared to last year, 40% less foreign tourists are visiting. These disappointing numbers are only partially compensated by a rise in domestic tourism.

Brussels Hotels Association compared the occupancy rates of this summer with those of last year. In total, there's a loss of 15% for the first weeks of July (compared with a 44% loss straight after the attacks in March).

Several campaigns by private and public actors managed to reduce the losses. The Nice attacks caused for new losses in August. Business travel seems to be recovering in Brussels, with more inquiries for October. Leisure tourism will take more time.

The recent geopolitical developments are putting event planners under an incredible pressure to secure the safety of their attendees.

With the contribution of top safety experts in the industry and law enforcement, Eventmanagerblog published the following article.

Peter Lindbergh in kunsthal Rotterdam
Peter Lindbergh

From 10 September to 12 February, you can admire the internationally touring exhibition ‘Peter Lindbergh: a different vision on fashion photography' in the Kunsthal in Rotterdam.

The exhibition, curated by Thierry-Maxime Loriot, is a thematic retrospect of Lindbergh's vision on female beauty, his fashion photography and his social engagement. Very interesting for all photography enthusiasts.

First BBT Online workshop abroad took place on Ibiza

Taking a group of planners and suppliers on a 2.5 day trip to Ibiza for a B2B workshop is a lot different from the usual B2B workshops we organised all around Belgium throughout the past few years. It turned out to be a wonderful idea.

The buyers and suppliers were both happy and everyone had the opportunity to discover a fantastic MICE destination first-hand at the same time. Because of the success of our endeavour, we will most likely organise other workshops on a different location abroad in the near future – only for our faithful Club 100 members of course.

Keep your eyes on our newsletters to find out where the next one will be. Interested to participate as buyer or supplier? Mail us on
